Kempsey is situated in the beautiful Macleay Valley halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the north coast of New South Wales. Settled in 1836 with the harvesting of red cedar trees and dairying being the major industries.
Kempsey Shire has a population of 28,000 friendly people and is rich in aboriginal culture and is home to some very famous Australian companies such as Akubra Hats, Nestles (Milo).
The Macleay river meanders down from rugged and majestic mountains through fertile farmlands a to some of the most beautiful beaches and coastline in Australia.
Boasting an average yearly temperature range between 12 C and 25 C with an annual rainfall of 1220 mm, Kempsey offers one of the best climates in the land according to a government survey (CSRIO).
