Friendship Force International (FFI) (formally changed from The Friendship Force, Inc in 2001) was chartered as a non-profit organization in the state of Georgia, U.S.A., on 17 March, 1977. This is the name of the entire organization, not only the headquarters or its staff. The headquarters office for FFI is located in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Board of Directors - Volunteer policy makers and salaried FFI staff are responsible for handling the overall operational and planning tasks associated with the running of Friendship Force International.
A worldwide group of volunteer clubs provides the organizational structure and leadership to conduct exchanges assigned by FFI.

Staff reports to the President, George Brown, head of staff, who in turn reports to the Board of Directors.
Members of the Board of Directors represent the organization, not their country.
